Large St. Benedict Medal
This necklace has a round, double-sided pendant.
The front features St. Benedict holding a cross in his right hand and his rule for monasteries in his left hand. Around the edge of the medal it reads: Eius in obitu nostro praesentia muniamur (May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death.)
The back of the medal features a cross with (Latin) letters that represent words. Down the cross, in English it means: May the holy cross be my light! May the dragon never be my overlord! Across the cross it means: The Cross of [our] Holy Father Benedict.
Around the back of the medal are letters representing in Latin: Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poision yourself!
The silver plated pendant is 7/8" in diameter and hangs on a 24" heavy weight endless chain.
