St. John, the author of the fourth book of the New Testament and Revelations, is captured here in cold-cast bronze from Unicorn Studios. He is part of the 8""H Evangelist Series. Saints Matthew, Mark and Luke are also available on this website. These authors of the gospels are shown with the symbols frequently seen in Christian art representing their attributes.
St. John's attributes are an eagle and a book. The eagle is from Revelations 4, where each of the evangelists were represented by the 'four living creatures'. One tradition says that John, the Evangelist, was taken up to Heaven on eagle's wings. His other attribute, the book, represents his authorship of both the fourth Gospel and the book of Revelations. In this figure, he is holding the book open for you to see. There is a quill in his right hand, as if he has just penned the words: In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.
This figurine comes in a gift box.
